OIPS




OIPS is a floating offshore wind project that uses two different technologies, the innovative Hexicon floating solution in combination with aquaculture. This project is a consortium, which is based in a floating offshore wind energy in hybridization with aquaculture located in Porto Santo, in the Madeira archipelago. The project has 20 years lifetime and the objectives are to develope, fabricate and operate a full scale floating offshore wind multi-turbine platform with an innovative automatized aquaculture system. OIPS project has received funds from IDERAM and is currently under development.

The Observatório Oceanico da Madeira (OOM) is a research unit created within ARDITI (Agência Regional para o Desenvolvimento da Investigação, Tecnologia e Inovação) that aims to constitute a pole of excellence dedicated to the ongoing research and monitoring of the ocean.

Hexicon AB is a privately-owned Swedish company which develops floating offshore wind energy projects. Hexicon AB, through its innovative floating technology tries to implement offshore wind in several projects worldwide.

Located in Calheta and inaugurated in 2000, it is an infrastructure that promotes research on fishing and sea matters, conducts scientific studies and promotes the dissemination of knowledge on regional aquaculture.
