The Project

The OIPS project is a consortium, which is based in a floating offshore wind energy in hybridization with aquaculture located in Porto Santo, in the Madeira archipelago. The project has 20 years lifetime and the objectives are to develope, fabricate and operate a full scale floating offshore wind multi-turbine platform with an innovative automatized aquaculture system.
GOALS OF THE PROJECT
The main objective of the OIPS project is to develop an offshore platform that integrates wind energy production and aquaculture, adapted to local conditions on Porto Island Holy. This project has a replicable and scalable characteristic, as it can be adapted to any island with various types of electrical connections.
FEATURES OF THE PROJECT
- Integration of offshore industrial activities
- Less impact on maritime space, through maximum use of it
- Ability to adapt to the requirements and specifications of the islands
ACTIVITIES (EXPECTED/ACHIEVED RESULTS)
The Consortium formed by the companies Planeta Vibrante Lda, EEM‐ Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira S.A. and AREAM – Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, intends to develop and implement a research, development and technology project, with the system multiturbine and floating wind platform with the integration of an aquaculture system on the Island from Porto Santo.
